Teaser Tuesday (67): Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

This week's teaser comes from Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott and it's so funny! Tella is just as amusing as Dante Walker so far. I haven't read much yet, but I have a feeling I'm going to love this!

Tella," my mother yells from behind me, "what are you looking at?" I spin around and grab a handful of my hair. Exhibit A.

"It's beautiful," she says.

"You did this to me," I tell her.

{Fire & Flood, Chapter 1}

Synopsis of Fire & Flood:

A modern day thrill ride, where a teen girl and her animal companion must participate in a breathtaking race to save her brother's life—and her own.

Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.

Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.

The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

  1. Those were great teasers! Everyone seems to really love this author. Her books sounds good but they aren't ones that make me think "Oh I have to read that soon!" I do want to read them though. I have to say that this one sounds more appealing to me than her Dante Walker series. And that cover is eye catching! I'm sure once I finally read her books I will love them just as much as everyone else. :)

    1. Basically, if you love humor in your stories with a bit of drama, you'll probably love Victoria Scott. I've only read the first Dante Walker book because, while it was good and the characters were SO funny, the plot wasn't enough to get me really interested in continuing the series. I'm hoping that this one is more addicting!
