Non-Fiction Review: Just Little Things by Nancy Vu

Seeing a baby yawn

Drawing on a foggy window

Finding a curly fry mixed in with your regular fries

These and 247 other little things that make everyday life a joy are collected in this delightful, surprising, and heartfelt book. Based on the popular website, this book will strike a chord in anyone who is open to celebrating the little moments of greatness all around us.

I read Just Little Things by Nancy Vu with my sister. We flipped through the pages together, laughing at the things we agreed with and debating the things we didn't. (Like the smell of babies. Ew!) What's funny is that when we read it, my sister had just come home from a softball game where she was called out after hitting a grand slam. She was so psyched, and then the umpire said she was out when everyone watching claimed she was safe. She was a little upset by that because she was so close. So when we came home we flipped through Just Little Things and it ended up cheering her up. It made her forget that she was upset for a little while. And isn't that the exact purpose of the book? To make you smile and laugh when you need a little pick me up?

Nancy Vu has created a fun self-help book that you can flip through at your own pace. If you read it all at once the way I did or one "little thing" at a time. You can read as many or as few as you want. And the book is beautiful to look at with its colorful, glossy pages. The one thing that is lacking about this book is it's cover. It's pretty in person, but it looks pretty plain in the picture.

Just Little Things is the perfect gift for anyone in your life, or even as something uplifting for you to read on a bad day. Read it as a group or by yourself. Young or old we can all relate to Vu's "little things"!

  3. I like the sound of this, sounds like a feel good book. I have Dodinsky's , In The Garden of Thoughts and my daughter who is 10, loves it and said it made her feel good. She read it in the back seat. I must do my review of it soon :)
