For William, life was as wicked and malicious as the beast he was trying destroy. Decades spent living a life of extravagance, domination and ravenous hunger haunted him. But when you live forever, the past never stays buried. And that which wishes to control you, will never let you go. William thought he found his escape, his one and only love, but the thing he fears the most could be the only thing that saves them. Or, it could doom them all.

Falling From Eternity by Megan Duncan is a paranormal romance that will have your heart pounding in your chest throughout the book. It's a short read, but it's packed full of action, love and vampires! And it might just be Duncan's most beautifully written book yet. And the twists and turns will keep you on your toes!

The beginning was a little slow to get going. There was a bit of an information dump in the first few chapters, but after that the story picked up and was quite entertaining. Falling From Eternity, as the title and cover suggest, is more of a romance than anything else, but there is a heavy paranormal element to keep readers intrigued.

The main character, William, is a vampire, the standard drinks-from-a-blood-bag-so-he-can-make-a-new-life-for-himself kind. He's desperate to change his ways, to walk away from his past, from the monster he believes he used to be. William is having a bit of an existential crisis. Wondering why monsters like him are allowed to live forever while the good people who live in Shady Willows, the retirement home he works in, die every day. And then he meets Autumn, the mysterious new resident at Shady Willows.

I felt that the characters could have been given a little more depth. I didn't entirely connect to William or Autumn or their relationship. I wanted them to be together and happy, but I'm not a huge fan of insta-love and that's the kind of relationship William and Autumn have.

If you're a lover of paranormal romance, heavy on the romance, then Falling From Eternity is for you. As I said, it's a short read and I'd recommend it anyone looking for a sweet vampire love story. It's also sure to be a hit with pretty much anyone who's read and loved any of Duncan's other works.

  1. I've seen this book around everywhere, and have been really looking forward to reading it!

Great review! I'm a little worried about characters lacking depth, but since it's a short read, it's understandable.
