A threat from the past could destroy the future. And the clock is ticking...
Kaleb Ballard's relentless flirting is interrupted when Jack Landers, the man who tried to murder his father, timeslips in and attacks before disappearing just as quickly. But Kaleb has never before been able to see time travelers, unlike many of his friends associated with the mysterious Hourglass organization. Are Kaleb's powers expanding, or is something very wrong?
Then the Hourglass is issued an ultimatum. Either they find Jack and the research he's stolen on the time gene, or time will be altered with devastating results.
Now Kaleb, Emerson, Michael, and the other Hourglass recruits have no choice but to use their unusual powers to find Jack. But where do they even start? And when? And even if they succeed, it may not be enough...
The follow-up to Hourglass, Timepiece blends the paranormal, science fiction, mystery, and suspense genres into a nonstop thrill ride where every second counts. ~ Courtesy of Goodreads

Timepiece is the second book in the Hourglass series by Myra McEntire. If you've read Hourglass then You. Must. Read. Timepiece. It's incredible, and takes you on all kinds of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Timepiece is told from the point of view of Kaleb Ballard, Emerson and Michael's friend. At first I wasn't so sure I liked the change of POV from Emerson to Kaleb, but wow! Let's just say Kaleb did not let me down. I will admit, I still missed Emerson, but Timepiece was about Kaleb and needed to be told from his eyes. And Emerson is still hanging around, and as feisty as ever.

Oh, Kaleb! Seriously. There could not be a more heartthrobbing heartthrob than Kaleb Ballard. Take the body and angst of Jacob Black, mix it with the attitude and charm of Adrian Ivashkov, add all the funny of Myra McEntire herself, and you get Kaleb. I love him. And when I say I love him, I mean I LOVE HIM! Don't get me wrong, I adore Michael, but there's just something about Kaleb. Probably his bad boy charm. Yeah. That's definitely it.

(Slightly spoilery SPOILERS.)

I've known since first reading Hourglass that I was rooting for Kaleb and Emerson's best friend, Lily, to get together. Granted, they never even met in Hourglass, but still. I knew the second they did there'd be sparks. And, boy, was I right! Bad boy Kaleb and feisty Lily? It's a match made in heaven.

(End of SPOILERS.)

Seriously, I don't think I've ever laughed as hard as when I was reading Timepiece. Well, except for when I read Hourglass. I completely adore Myra McEntire's writing and her characters. The world she created with Hourglass and Timepiece is amazing and I can't wait to read more. If you loved Hourglass, you're sure to love Timepiece.

  1. Great review, Jesse! TIMEPIECE was hilarious, largely in part of Kaleb, yet also there were those really touching moments that made me FEEL so much for the characters.
