Blog Hop & Feature, and Follow Friday (7)

We've been very, very bad these past couple of weeks, Pretty Readers. Very forgetful and lazy. Well, maybe lazy's not the right word, we have been working hard. Mono-focused, maybe? We'd been so busy planning and executing our September Read with PiF feature (and our very first GIVEAWAY! How exciting? Go enter! You can click the banner above or below.), that we've been kind of neglectful of our Friday hops. We're putting a stop to that craziness this week, though. We promise!

Now back to our regularly scheduled blog-hopping fun.

For those who don't know:

Feature & Follow Friday is a blog hop that expands your blog following by a joint effort between bloggers. Feature & Follow Friday is now hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee and Alison of Alison Can Read.

This week, Rachel and Alison ask us:

It's that pesky magic book fairy again! She has another wish: What imaginary book world would you like to make a reality?

Jesse: If I could make any book world a reality it would probably be the Night World from the Night World series by L.J. Smith. Vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters, dragons. Forbidden love... There are so many characters in that series, so many different paranormal creatures, that it would be so cool for them to exist in real life. Plus I would so join Circle Daybreak and try to stop the coming apocalypse!

But I won't lie, if I saw a dragon I would probably run away screaming. I'm no Keller or Rashel. Hell, even Mary-Lynette is braver than me! Although if Ash Redfern or Quinn were there... Well. That changes things. Now if LJ would just finish the last book (Strange Fate) already... I NEED to know how it ends! *pulls hair out*

Kira: Ha! This is one of those questions I have a lot of issues with. There are just so many I want to pick from! It's a bad habit of mine when I'm truly immersed in a story to want that world to be real, so it's hard to pick just one.

I think, for arguments sake, I'd have to go with pretty much any paranormal urban fantasy (TMI, Night World, Vampire Academy/Bloodlines). I don't know why, just the idea that there's this secret (though probably quite dangerous) world we know nothing about going on right under our noses... It would make one feel pretty special to be one of those few (to steal Cassie Clare's brilliant term--seriously, it's probably the best term i've heard/seen for us normies, though that might some second) mundies selected to know about their existence.

Of course, since most of us would not know the truth anyway, who's to say a world full of supes (thank you very much, Charlaine Harris) isn't already a reality?

Book Blogger Hop is the second Friday hop we participate in. It is a "place where all of us connect over the weekend and chat about books!"

Each week, the lovely Jennifer from Crazy For Books asks us a question. This week, She wants to know:
As a book blogger, how do you introduce yourself in your profile?

Jesse: I introduce myself on my Blogger profile as and avid reader. Which is probably what most people put in those kinds of things. Honestly, I think my Twitter bio describes me best though. It says, "I dance to the music in my head. Sometimes publicly. And not always on purpose."

Kira: Short and sweet, and then impersonal (you can see what I mean by clicking my name). That's pretty much on par for any "About Me" section sites seem to like to insist I fill out. I am terrible at introducing myself. Some people draw blanks on tests, I draw blanks on discussing me. Ask me a few questions, and I'll give you a few answers, sure, but open-ended "tell us about yourself" sections? Can't do them. I don't know why.

P.S. We'd like to take the time to wish a Happy 24th Birthday to one of our very own Pretty Staffers today, so:

We got you a virtual cake!

  1. Hi Kira and Jesse. Nice to meet you both! I was thinking the same thing - who is to say supes do not live among us? Aren't we told the best books are those that are based on what you know? Maybe Charlaine Harris is privy to some information we do not have yet. :)Think of all the other books too that are so awesome. Great! Now I have scared myself. Looks like a lights on night. Haha. :D Thanks for stopping by!

  2. The idea that our world could so easily contain magic and myth and mystery is what makes urban fantasy or paranormal romance so appealing to me. I definitely agree with the Vampire Academy suggestion. The House of Night series is another world that would get my vote. :)

  3. I'm stopping by from the hop. Like the blog and I'm now following you via twitter as @LitObsession. :)

  4. I haven't read the Night World series. I'll have to take a look at it.

  8. So nice to see a world other than Harry Potter or Twilight - there seems to be a theme this morning (LOL). I went with the world of Clive Barker's Abarat, which is just amazing and magical.

  10. I'm okay with anyway a person feels they need to place in their 'about me' since its about them. happy weekend to yall!!

  11. Visiting from FF. I've heard a lot about that series but haven't read it yet. I'm your newest follower and would love for you to visit me when you get a chance.....

  12. This week’s Book Blogger Hop really threw me a curveball.

That’s because I don’t call myself a book blogger. I never even considered myself a book blogger. Sure I blog about books and book-related topics week after week. But for some reason I never saw the label of “book blogger” applying to me.

If you’re wondering why then please hop on over to my blog and find out –

  13. I definitely agree with Night World series!!!! It would be so awesome...(I also agree with needing Strange Fate ASAP)

  14. I love your answer. I think it would be awesome if the Night World existed. I loved that series and I've been waiting for Strange Fate to come out for almost 15 years now.

Thanks for stopping by. I love your blog. New follower here.

  15. I would also love the TMI world but I don't want to have demons there... no evil characters please, and I'm ready to dig into the world! =)

    Here's my Friday Hops

Hope you can visit my site =)

    New follower,
